I spent most (okay ALL) of last week "recovering" from my 2 longish hardish runs. I ran, but it wasn't pretty and it was slooooooowwww. Monday, I had no legs, same on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and then I decided that Friday I would do my last run for the week and take 2 complete days off in hopes of acheiving full recovery. Fridays run sucked as well as I ended up having GI issues and after 5.25 miles (of my 8 mile run), I decided that I would just move over the stairmaster for 25 min, otherwise it was gonna take eons to finish those last 2.75 miles. I ran yesterday and the legs still felt a bit heavy and I forgot my garmin so I didn't have splits (which is probably a good thing). I am really trying to stay in tune with my body this week so that on Saturday I am prepared to "GO AFTER IT". I have no real race plan for the weekend other than to just go after it.
Here's a pic from one of my runs at lunch last week - sooo pretty!
ohhh - that's from Maui 2 years ago - not from last week!
Cheers!

Pics or It Didn't Happen
…isn't that how the saying goes these days?
Well there it is:
Today I ran a PR for my 1/2 mary in a training run. I know it's not "legit" because I wasn't on an official course, but I'm still really happy. That wasn't the plan today. The plan was to run 11 miles with a wokout built in there, and at the end I did some math and decided to go for it. On Monday this week, I did a similiar training run and finished 12 miles in 1:28. This run I am calling the "Secret Run" that Gillian gave me. AWESOME! I don't want to jinx myself, because I have a race in a couple of weeks, but it sure does feel good. My 1/2 mary PR currently sits at 1:37:22 and my goal this year is a lofty one, but I AM GOING AFTER IT!
Last weekend I witnessed Steph CRUSH her 1/2 goal. She is an inspiration. Go to her blog, read about her AMAZING accomplishments, how she lives - like REALLY LIVES LIFE and her goals. We met in real life last weekend after her race - such a rad Chic!
My mom is throwing out CRAZY mileage and I'm afraid I might get schooled by her in Boston. Time to start putting in some longer runs after my race in 2 weeks. Her and her girlfriend ran 23.5 miles today. OMG!
Hope everyone had a most wonderful "HEART" Day!
Cheers!

Walking on the Cliff
Walking the Cliff
This past week was the first week in 2013 that felt somewhat like a real training week. I am still in the "go with the flow" for training these days, but I had a couple of milestones for the new year. 1) First 8 miler of the year under 60 min (these were happening quite frequent and with much more ease that this one, but none-the-less it happened and I'll take it 2) First 12 miler of the year and it was the day after the "hard" 8 miler and the miles average 7:50's for it - YAHOOO! Dare I say, I feel a bit normal right now. No I don't. I'm not quite there, but I am pleased with last weeks progress.
In other news, the Dude and I got our Cap Suspension Bridge pass this weekend. We spent 2hrs exploring the tree tops, walking the "cliff walk" and reading about how the area has developed over the many, many years to get to where it is today. I am looking forward to many more adventures there. Today was foggy, drizzley and chilly but still great fun:)
Things that are tasty and those that are not-so-much!
Green Gone Wrong
Just added waaaaaayyyy too much kale and it was nasty.

Bombshell Spell
1 table spoon of honey, 1 table spoon of apple cider vinegar and 1/2 cup of pineapple juice
VERY TASTY
Cheers!
