Run for HoneyWagon 1/2 Marathon - It's Legit!

It Happened!  Finally after carrying that PR for almost 5 years I got a new one - 1:35:01!  I went after this run like a training run.  My goal was to run the first 10 miles within 7:10's.  Mile 5 and mile 9 were both a bit over 7:12 and 7:18, but a few of the others were under.  I had overheard the headwind on the last 3 miles was going to be brutal, so I felt my "plan" would put me in a good position for a PR regardless of what happened on the last 3 miles.  Whoever that was that said the headwind was going to be tough was RIGHT!  OMG - I swore a bit and then decided to channel that energy into just finishing.  I really did feel strong through the finish and felt the 7:10s would've held without the wind.  My boys were at the finish and the little dude ran through the finish line with me.

The race is a small race and I placed 4th female overall (because it's small)!  The scenary is beautiful - smelly at times, but it's farm land.  Horses, cows, bald eagles, fantastic spectators and volunteers!  I would definitley do this race again.  So happy to start the 2013 race season with this AND having the fam there always makes it just THAT-MUCH-BETTER!

Cheers to CRUSHING DREAMS in 2013!

Just a side note:
- not at race weight (more like "training" weight)
- no fruit the day before
- no gluten the day before
- no immodium for race or after
- approached like a training run
